Paul Metzger Named 2003 Auctioneer of the Year

Paul Metzger is named 2003 Auctioneer of theYear

The Auctioneers Association of Maryland named Paul M. Metzger of Metzger’s Auction Services, Inc., in Joppa, as its 2003 Auctioneer of the Year for his “outstanding contribution to the auction profession in Maryland.”

A member of the association since 1996, Metzger is a past director and currently serves as vice president. He says the association’s award is “a great honor.”

Metzger became involved with auctions in 1967, working for a local auctioneer for about 23 years before going to Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in 1995.  He is licensed and bonded in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Ohio, and has several certifications including CAI, GPPA, CES, and AARE.  His company specializes in real estate and estate auctions but also holds antiques and collectibles, coin and specialty, and liquidation and downsizing auctions.

Proud of his profession, Metzger says one reward of being an auctioneer is being able to offer people a “different way to market” personal and real estate property and “helping people who are really in a jam, for example, widows or older couples downsizing … those who have to sell all in an estate and its contents.”

Congratulations to Paul on this much deserved award.
