Derek Hopkins: Auctioneers Association of Maryland’s 2003 Bid Calling Champion

Harford County Auctioneer Derek Hopkins of Pylesville, Maryland, was named the 2003 Bid Calling Champion on August 25, 2002, at the Maryland State Fair.  The bid calling event was hosted by the Maryland Auctioneers Association.  Jay Ruby of Fredrick was the first runner-up and Sheri Odom of Jessup was the second runner-up.  Hopkins was selected out of eight other contestants from across the state who participated in the event.  The audience was so captivated with his bid calling, a mallard decoy sold for $65.00.
